What we are

A directory for people who are deciding on a tattoo and want to compare artists' work before they care about geography. We surface the portfolio first, the practical facts second, and nothing else.

What we are not

• Not a booking platform. We do not take commission.
• Not a review aggregator. Portfolio quality speaks for itself.
• Not a generic tattoo-advice content farm. We do not explain "does it hurt".

How studios get listed

We seed listings from public sources — council registers, Google Places, studios' own Instagram accounts. Every new listing receives an automated courtesy email pointing to their listing page with a one-click opt-out. If a studio asks to be removed, we remove it within 48 hours.

How studios claim their listing

If you run a studio and want to manage your listing — upload real portfolio images, update prices, respond to enquiries — claim it via the Claim this listing link on your profile. Verification is via an Instagram DM or email link. A claimed listing is free. The Featured tier (£25/mo, £10/mo intro for 3 months) adds priority placement, unlimited images, and analytics.

Council licensing

Every legal UK tattoo studio is registered with its local council under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 (England & Wales), the London Local Authorities Act (London), or the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 (Scotland). The register is a public record. We check it manually for studios we list and mark verified studios with a Council-licensed ✓ badge.

What absence of a badge means. One of three things:

1. The studio's council doesn't publish the register online and we haven't emailed to confirm yet.
2. We simply haven't got to this studio yet (we're working through the directory by traffic).
3. The studio isn't registered.

We don't visually distinguish the three cases, because we can't assert "unregistered" without evidence that the council has no record. If you're about to book, searching "[council name] skin piercing register" takes five minutes and is always worth it.
